Sant’Agata Pool
Sant'Agata dei Goti, Amalfi Coast
The swimming pool of Sant’Agata enjoys an extraordinarily panoramic position on the Amalfi Coast. Given the particular conformation of this coast of southern Italy, the space dedicated to the pool was critically reduced. Andrea Magnaghi Architecture’s project followed the natural shape of the site, imagining a blade of water that followed the slope of the hill.
The pool is not built-in, but overhanging, so it also represents the embankment of the garden. It was built in black stone so that the water became a mirror that reflects the changing color of the sky, from pink to blue to gray. The swimming pool therefore follows the territory both in shape and colors.
